On the subject of Windows 2000:

One can upgrade a Windows 98 machine to Windows 2000 Professional (was NT
5.0). There have been no *definitive* plans, that I know of anyway, to
exclude Win95 from upgrading to 2000 but this would be a two-step upgrade,
and more than likely frowned upon.

This was the rumor with Win98 as well - folks still on Win 3.x could not
upgrade to Windows 98, but Microsoft put the code in during the technical
beta to provide for that. Whether this will be true for a Win95 to Windows
2000 Professional or not, remains to be seen.

(This is all I can say without being shot, flogged and otherwise have other
nasty things happen :)

As for whether Windows 95/Windows 98/Windows NT and Windows/2000 are Y2K
compliant, see Microsoft's site - they have a whole portion of their site
dedicated to it, and as to where patches can be found and downloaded - FOR
FREE :)

Cheers,
Joe (ain't breakin' my NDA over this ;)
