I fail to see the purpose in declaring the obvious to be incorrect, even in
a "math only please" context.  Why not simply call the 3 "most significant"
and explain what that means, also in English?  6 quite clearly is the last
digit, unless you're reading it in Farsi.  Three hundred forty six.  Conveys
a lot of information, and six is clearly the last bit of that conveyed info,
despite its relative insignificance.
