This is a true story.

I work in a secured building [although it can't be that secure, since they allow lawyers in] which has the jail right next to it.

During a game on TV, when the guard was not watching, three prisoners pried a third story window open and jumped.

One of them stole a car and was caught after a high speed pursuit 25 miles away.

The other two were seriously injured; one of them is now a quadreplegic.

The next day, on the door to the police station across from the jail was a sign posted above the keylock:

Caution--Hard Hat Area, watch for falling prisoners!

The sign was gone by the end of the day.

Did you know?

When building the new King County Jail, one of the contractors ran out of money early and had to find some cost savings to complete the job.

What did he do?

Instead of installing steel bars on the windows, he painted wooden bars to look like the steel ones.

The job passed inspection; the contractor was paid (and conveniently moved to another state and disappeared).

It was only discovered when some prisoners began escaping....
