I don't know anything about SSH, or it's availability on the 3k.

Given the info you supplied, why not use RAS on your NT for
dailup access, and then enable Telnet on your HP3000's
and HP9000's?

Most of the current terminal emulators will support Telnet on
the HP3000. If your using VPLUS you'll probably want to go
with Reflections or Minisoft. I use QCTERM on non-VPLUS
applications, and it works great. Telnet on the HP3000 and
QCTERM on a Windows platform will not cost you anything
at all.

I know I didn't answer your question, just wanted to post my
$0.02

I have been spending some of my spare time looking into various
means of providing a reasonably secure access method over the
Internet to my various servers, HP3000, HP9000, and several
flavours of NT, for my telecommuting staff. They currently use
NS/VT for the HP3000s, and telnet for the HP9000s. I am the only
one that currently has any reason to talk to a NT box (and what I
have to say on those occassions should not be overheard) and I
mostly use ftp in that case.

I have considered PPTP but I must say that the independent
reports that I have read are not encouraging, to say the least.
Casting about for an alternative I came across SSH. Can anyone
here enlighten me as to why SSH (V2?) would or would NOT be a
good choice, whether or not it is available for the HP3000, and what
other alternatives are available to me.

As the budget committee is want to say; "...A low, or no-cost
solution is to be desired for this item."

Regards,
Jim
