No it doesn't go belly up just the wrong date is returned by the Calendar intrinsic and on the system.

    But if we convert to using HPCALENDAR  AND we apply an MPE patch - we
    will be able to continue to run and get the correct date.

The MPE patch comes from the folks at Beechglen, I am sure they can help you.

    And one other thing to clarify - even if we converted to Stromasys,
    that system still needs a patch to function correctly - is that right?

If you want the correct date to be returned yes, but the system still functions.
