We build a very large message file
SQLMSG 2109B VAM 0 2000007 1 0 0 *

and as you can see the disk space it takes is '0'.

Once anything gets written to this message file, the disk space is being
used ...
SQLMSG 2109B VAM 1 2000007 1 256 1 *

but when the file is getting empty again, the disk space is not released...

SQLMSG 2109B VAM 0 2000007 1 256 1 *

Is there a way to free up the disk space again (of course in my case we are
talking 14,000,000 sectors of disk storage) without purging and rebuilding
this file?

Thanks in advance for all your help!
Greg
