We are planning to use GZIP that is on the 1995 CSL tape for
production jobs that need to FTP files to a remote system. Our
purpose is to save a considerable amount of time. We chose GZIP
because the folks who manage the remote system have GZIP and can
reconstitute the files conveniently. Our own tests have been
successful.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with GZIP
and/or this type of file transfer to learn:
-- Is the contributed GZIP reliable?
-- Are we going about this in the right way?
Thanks.
