Donna,

  Allbase does require more maintenance (generally speaking) than
Image, and one of my major customers actually has a couple of DBA's
devoted to Allbase (and yes they need them dedicated!).  Unlike
Image where you can probably get by without a DBA for most day
to day things, you really do need to have someone very familiar
with Allbase to keep things running in top condition.  Whether
you need someone dedicated to it or not really depends on the
number and size of the DBE's.

  One thing that can help tremendously is to get DBAdvisor/SQL
from LeeTech.  It performs many of the types of functions Image
people are used to with products such as Adager and DBGeneral,
but for Allbase.  You'll find that table reorgs and the like are
much more "palitable" then trying to use ISQL.
