I didn't see it either, so I guessed based on the instructions on page 3 of
"the Compass," the insert in each InterexPress:
 
        Listserver:     [log in to unmask]
        Subject:        blank
        Msg body:       subscribe sigjava-L <your name, no brackets>
 
        Posts to:       [log in to unmask]
 
Oddly enough (for me), a password is associated with your subscription.
Perhaps it will be requested if you choose to unsubscribe. Still, as they
accept posts only from the subscribing address [a pain IMHO], I don't
understand the need.
