SAFE/3000 stream rules allow one to define the conditions under which a
job can be submitted - eliminating the use of embedded and shared
passwords
in the job submission process.
1. Jobs which logon under the USER.ACCT of the submitter are submitted
without the need for any rules or passwords. No password is prompted
for.
2. Cross user/acct job submissions require a rule (which can contain
wild-
cards). For example,
user(operator.sys) or user(@.helpdesk) and file(jbackup.pub.sys);
allows either OPERATOR.SYS or any user in the HELPDESK account to
stream the job file JBACKUP.PUB.SYS. Job submission can also be
controlled by time of day, date, program doing the submission,
expiration, etc.
SAFE enforcement modes allow Stream Rules to be phased in to a
production
environment (ala ACF2 enforcement modes under OS/390).
BTW since SAFE is fully integrated at the OS level via HP supported
AIFs,
no changes are required to substitute UDCs for the STREAM command -
fully
compatible with MPE/iX. This integration allows pgms to take advantage
of
Stream Rules with no changes or hooks to the program files.
Call or see our web page for details.
