I don't see why not... you can pick up a Jamaca enclosure for about $50.
If they are more expensive than that, let me know, I will send you one if you pay shipping. :-)
If you want more fault tolerance than that, a Model 20 would be your best bet.
I think you can add a couple A28696A FW-SCSI cards to the 969.

We have a 'spare' 969 400 system with 2 x 9gb drives in it, with 7.5 installed. This much space is not enough for it to act as a fallback system for our N series (1x 18gb, 1 x 36gb).
Is there any real reason I cant add an external 36gb drive on the FW Diff i/f to make this system a viable DR option? In theory its 50% faster than the N series (220-100, same RAM size), with a 100bt nic fitted.
