Wow, it's amazing what one can learn from this list.
Had to go dust off the dictionary for Welwitchia's and Coelacanths. I
wonder if welwitchia's taste like turnips, or maybe they would go great with
a barbecued serving of coelacanths?
I even had to add these two words to my email spell checker!!!
It's also worth noting that some living "fossils" have survived millions of
years, outlasting their contemporaries simply because they suffered from
extraordinarily perfect engineering.
Crocodiles, Ants, Welwitchia's and Coelacanths spring to mind, but there
are others.
My point is that some things are simply destined to outlive others, unless
they are deliberately destroyed, or their ecosystem is neglected.
