We took maintenance off of our 2680A over a year ago, figuring that when it
died we'd just unplug it and push it out the door. It's still running fine!
Which really reflects our experience with this printer over the years that
we've owned it. I never could understand how HP could justify the high
maintenance fees they charged for this device, but perhaps our experience
with it isn't typical. Anyway, it's been an absolutely marvelous printer,
and I really hate the thought of giving it up.

As for a replacement, we bought two LaserJet 4si's, complete with 2000 sheet
input and output bins. They work ok, but I still prefer the 2680.

As most of you know, HP plans to drop the 2680A from service
contracts in the very near future. Are any of you planning on upgrading,
and if so to what? Or, are you going to hang on to the 2680A and have
maintenance done via third party provider. Any other options come to mind?
