It has been a while since I've been involved with MM & PM too, however in
addition to Brad's instructions I think you will also want to ensure that
the background process stops and starts properly.
On MM, I believe this is done by posting a BATCHSTOP transaction to the
message file to stop the background processor and then (now, stretching the
old brain cells a bit) I think that there are some UDC's that can be used to
start various 'internal' processes, including the background processor
(without having to go through the SAI).... but I can't recall what they are;
useful if you are trying to automate using JCLs and/or command files.
The actual importance of this timing will depend on your specific
implementation. I have seen situations, in a JIT environment, that if the
background process was not active, then On Hand Balances of inventory could
quickly qet corrupted.
