You are correct Stan, it is 4-O. It has been available for a couple of
years now for V/E.

HP has a program to give people, free, a copy of a "Y2K Safe" version
of MPE V for the Classic HP 3000.

Note: "Safe", not "Compliant". The version of MPE V they're
distributing apparently met the HP Y2K criteria *at the time they
certified it*, but the criteria have changed since then. Plus,
they've since found a couple of small problems (for which they
have documented workarounds), like "streaming with a date= is
off by a day between 2000-02-29 and 2000-12-31".

For information, contact Allan Hertling at [log in to unmask]
He'll want to know the version of MPE V you already have (if known),
because if you're running a release older than version 3P, you need
to first upgrade to 3P and then upgrade to the newest version (40?).
If you're on 3P or later, you can simply upgrade to the new version (40?).
(The upgrade process changed to something called "Turbo upgrade").

If you're willing to simply do an "install", tell him you don't need the
3P release. (Saves him time, and HP money.)

He'll also need to know the kind of media you require...there are only
two choices: cartridge or 9-track reel.
