I know there have been a lot of postings that bear on this problem, but I
haven't yet been able to integrate the responses to directly address my
situation.

Our customer is using Talligent T2155s to print purchase/sales orders. When
they were RS-232 to the DTC they worked fine. Now, they are HP JetDirect
over a WAN to remote sites. Some are RS-232 to the JetDirect, some are
Parallel.

All networked Tallies are dropping blank lines. Not all blank lines get
dropped, and it is not consistent. Non-blank lines do not appear to be lost.
All records printed are the same length; blank lines are blank-filled. This
sounded like a buffer overrun problem at first, except it happens with the
parallel setup as well.

File output from the (COBOL) application is set up with CCTL.

HP line printers in an otherwise identical configuration do not drop any
lines.

We have a Tally in-house to test on our system, but are waiting on an
external JetDirect box. We will set it up RS-232 from the JetDirect and put
a protocol analyzer in between to view the data stream. We will not be able
to duplicate the WAN, but will be receiving information on the WAN
configuration.

While we are waiting, what should we look at?
