Hello

Yesterday Duane Percox answered longly to Brian about the decision of his
company to migrate to HP9K. For Duane HP make a lot of efforts for
supporting the HP3K in his strategic presentations.
As a MIS in a little company in France I can say that the effort of HP
for supporting little HP3K system like mine (918 lx) is : Null ZERO .

1. I never saw during 8 years an advertising around HP3000 in computer
magazines (and I read a lot of them) . But there are a lot of HP unix
advertises (and NT now).

2. During the same period I never saw an HP consultant. But i saw many
times IBM consultants for many purpose and they dont already make money
with me.

3. We want to change our accountancy software (running on the HP3K). I
asked by phone to hp in April a list of the available softwares in
France. We are now in July and I dont have any answer from HP.

4. And to finish I confirm like this post that I do not see somtehing
about the HP3K on the commercial web of HP.

My private opinion is that HP support directly large companies with HP3K
but do not want to make more for the others.
Like you in the mail-list I think that it is a good system but I am
disapointed by this policy !.

Stephane Lassire

I subscribe recently to this list and it is a really good source of
information. Thanks.

I just visited HPs web site at www.hp.com, and the home page has been
redesigned again recently. There is a link for "products", at which you
find several categories of products. There is a link for "UNIX
Enterprise
Servers" and all manner of PCs and workstations, but nothing for the
HP3000. If you didn't know about HP's business servers and specific
URLs, there would be no way to know from their web site that such
things exist. Why does HP try so hard to avoid selling 3000's?
