donna,

Is this really volutil or mirvutil? I have seen this error with a
mis-matched version of mirvutil installed on a system. For instance
Mirror/iX was purchased but never made it onto a support contract. After a
6.0 upgrade (leaving the 5.5 version of mirvutil remaining on the system)
running the 5.5 version of mirvutil would produce the error you encountered.

Even if this is not the answer to donna's problem it is a good lesson for
everyone. When purchasing add-on HP software make absolutely certain you put
it on your support contracts. Mirror/iX and 100BaseT drivers are the most
common products I have seen that were never added to contracts. Furthermore,
when planning an update don't skip the step to verify the products contained
on the SUBSYS tape. Not having all of your products can either delay your
update, or worse cause you to back out the update. Perhaps you could limp
along for a few days if you were missing a 100BaseT driver or Turbostore
Online, but not having a working copy of something like mirvutil could prove
risky.

Doug.
