Boy did someone here give you the wrong message! Many apologies!

First, regarding KLONDIKE: it DOES work. How it affects your system
performance will depend on a LOT of variables; the best thing (as you
implied in your message) is to try it and see. KLONDIKE pre-fetches
file pages into memory, and can freeze files in memory (and can later
"thaw" them out of memory).

We most certainly DO give free demos! When we took over the products from
SRN, we had to modify them to remove SRN's security and add our own, but
that's all done. The Wingspan products (EZHELP, MAGV, ETC, and BLAZE)
aren't working yet, but everything else is (MAGNET works great: I use it
all the time -- it's just the Wingspan interface that doesn't work).
I'll have someone here call you and arrange to get you a tape ASAP.

I'm also not sure what you mean by pretty expensive: the System Manager's
and Developer's Toolboxes are $2995.00 each regardless of platform size.
But, of course, $1 can be expensive and $1,000,000 can be cheap. This
post alone is costing the Internet millions of dollars (old joke).

The SM Toolbox includes: PAGES, KNOCKOUT, TINDEX, SHOT, KLONDIKE, CASPER,
BETIMES, MAGNET, REDWOOD, ACAP, MODA, GRANT, REP, [BLAZE, ETC]

The Dev Toolbox includes: CHRONOS, WILDCARD, XDSMAP, FASTLIB, AVATAR,
   CSEQ, CAPTURE, [EZHELP]

Many of these tools are mentioned in Robelle's SMUG book, available at
http://www.robelle.com
(thanks, Robelle, for yet another great edition of the SMUG book -- and
I'm not just saying that because of the unsolicited mention of some of
our products!)
