(notice my Perl and SQL programming ignorance)

Having no detail knowledge about Perl and DBI::DBD at all, I wonder if
it would be feasible to use a small Java process as "gateway" from Perl
to Image/SQL and Allbase. It would probably make it reasonably easy in
terms of implementing the SQL functionality (ideally just some kind of
pass-through) -- however, performance/efficiency might be somewhat poor
by introducing a(nother) "middle man".

Writing some XL routines in COBOL, Pascal, or C with the Image/SQL and
Allbase/SQL preprocessor (for embedded SQL) for use by the Perl code
would probably be more appropriate... and give the SQL aspects of all
this without starting from scratch.

I hope that more knowledgable list members will (gently) correct me here.

;-) Lars
