A new version of QCTerm (Version 0.82, September 16, 1999) is now available
for downloading. The URL is:

     http://aics-research.com/qcterm

If you've downloaded previous versions, simply unzip this copy to the C:\
root. If this is your first download, please follow the instructions on the
web page carefully.

This version corrects problems found and submitted by Efrem Castro, Ken
Graham, Ken Sletten and a few others. It also incorporates one of Stan
Sieler's enhancement requests (single-line scrolling when "pecking" at the up
and down arrows). Stan's other requests (a larger font, better use of Large
Fonts, and a modified paste routine) are either on the to-do list or are
being given careful consideration.

Tracy Johnson also found a problem with MPEX's binary read (SETJCW
HPREDOVEMODIFY=1). Because this problem is going to be a fair amount of work
to correct -- and because the binary read technique is used so rarely
apparently -- and because there is a simple workaround in MPEX, this problem
is being assigned to the bottom of the to-do list, but it too will eventually
get repaired.

We remain very interested in making QCTerm an absolutely perfect terminal
emulator, so please keep those cards and letters coming in. Don't put up with
failures of any kind. (However, it doesn't do us any good for you to simply
tell us "the damn thing doesn't work :-). It's much more helpful if you
outline the problem in detail, using common software, if at all possible --
and if not, to set up a temporary test account where we might be able to see
the problem ourselves by dialing into your machine.)

Nonetheless, the QCTerm emulator is becoming reasonably hard. If you wish to
start giving it out to a fair number of people, I don't see any reason why
you can't do that with some confidence now.
