When I had to do this very thing at one of my previous jobs (a US Army
site), we bought an electric magnetizer/eraser doo-dad (technical term!)
that bulk-erased all of our 9-track tapes and diskettes.  I don't see one in
my favorite mail order computer supplies catalog, so I don't know if one is
even available now or not.

A honkin' big magnet would do the trick as well. :-)
