Dale,
Did you read the letter? It does not express the intent to buy anything
from HP. It expresses the intent to become a dues-paying member of the
OpenMPE group. The purpose is to demonstrate to HP that there is sufficient
interest in the OpenMPE model to make it viable, and that HP would please
many customers by releasing the source code to the organization.

Hi Jon,

The OpenMPE board is letting their emotions get the better of them. If HP
does accept the letters of intent (which I personally doubt), they will be
meaningless unless they are accompanied information on how many potential
sales dollars the signatories represent.

You might even receive a response if, instead of letters of intend, folks
sent signed purchase orders.

Remember, you are dealing with a profit-minded business entity where the
currency of realm is in fact, currency!
