Does anyone know of a way to successfully restore files from a tape
mounted on a remote system. The problem is that my production backups
are on a DLT drive (a.k.a. LDEV 11 or Device class "DLT"), and my "Crash
and Burn 928" box (a.k.a. 'CB928') has only a DDS2 drive. So, to get a
fresh copy of my production apps and databases onto CB928 I need to do a
separate DDS backup after-hours.
Here is an Example of what I thought would work on my "Crash an Burn
928":
CB928>:REMOTE HELLO SESNAM,USER.ACCOUNT;DSLINE=LIVEBOX
{NOTE: When logged on to the LIVEBOX machine
You are still talking to the local CB928 machine
until you exec the REMOTE command.
So from the local machine I enter the following
CB928>:FILE T;DEV=LIVEBOX#DTL
CB928>:RESTORE *T;@[log in to unmask];SHOW;PROGRESS
The error I get is (S/R 2275)
LABELED MEDIA IS NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORTED FOR REMOTE DEVICE "11"
Any known work-around?
