Network printing pauses

Just put in a new P5000LJ 1000Q line printer, and there is a pause of
several seconds before it prints each file.  Everything else seems to work.
No spooler error messages.  Any ideas?

Have experimented with having esc-E (reset to defaults) in the setup files
or an env-file, and with poll_interval in npconfig, but those don't seem to
make any difference.
