Jeff, as you have probably seen by now I rejoined the list last Friday
morning. I believe apologies are in order, the whole thing was due to
my misunderstanding and also the fact I was not aware that I sent some
messages via an address other than the one with which I (was) am
subscribed to the list.

This past week was not the first time I have had messages held. It
happened a few times over the last several months. Some of the messages
never got through, IIRC.

When I post to 3000-L, it is almost invariably in response to a current
thread. When I reply, Lookout 2003 uses the account on which it
received the message to send back the reply. Since I (was)/am
registered on the list as denys at Houston dot rr dot com, it sends the
reply back using the same account.

In the instances where I might post a non-reply message, is usually use
an existing message in the 3000-L folder in Lookout 2003, and reply-all
to it, deleting the original content and addressee. Doing this also
ensures that Lookout 2003 uses denys at Houston dot rr dot com as the
"reply-to" address in the message. Since getting my new email addresses
in September of 2003, this has worked quite well for me. I participate
in many other lists, some totally unrelated to computers and as such, I
have a series of email addresses which are used only for lists. If and
when the spam gets too high, I will dump the addresses and create new
ones.

Last week, I posted two messages and I started from scratch, not as a
reply. When these messages were sent, they obviously went out on my
default account in Lookout 2003, which is not the one I used to
subscribe to the list.

Remembering the other few times when I had received messages to the
effect that my messages had been held up and actually were never posted,
I jumped to the wrong conclusion and took improper action.

I should have known better than to even think my messages were held up
by Jeff and I apologize for my note and subsequent unregistration (if
such a word exists.)

Along with your message, I received an incredible amount of private mail
(a few of which were also sent to HP3000-L,) asking me to reconsider my
decision. I responded to just a few of them, but to all who wrote to
me, thank you. I was actually stunned with the number of messages and
in many instances the depth of the emotion contained in the message.

So, I am back. I intend to keep only to technical issues because a) I
have so little time now and b) it is useless to try to convince useful
idiots like Michael that they should wake up and smell the coffee (or
bomb material.) :-)

And Jeff my good friend, there is no need to add my other address to the
list. I will try to not repeat the mistake (too often.)

Finally I do hope to see many of you at HP World.

Denys

My dear friend Denys, and other list members:

Your message was posted from [log in to unmask] This
particular address is not in the subscriber list. You do have
[log in to unmask] and even [log in to unmask] So your
posting didn't appear to come from a subscriber and was forwarded to me
to approve (the list doesn't get much spam because of such approvals I
never issue). I approved both your luncheon posting and this apparent
farewell that I think you may have jumped the gun. There is no
censorship other than keeping the spam off the list. I would be more
than happy to add the "new" address to the subscriber list as well, and
you'll have to pick the one you want to send mail back (unless you want
multiple copies).

I'm terribly sorry at this misunderstanding. You are not being censored
in any way, Denys, nor is anyone else on the list. But if you post from
an address not on the subscriber list, I have to OK it before it gets
sent, whether your a spammer, a usenet reader, or just changed your
address again.

Please stick around Denys. We've lost too many good minds already.

Sincerely,
Jeff Kell
