I am working on this and the short answer is no, the longer answer
is: It is either messy or involves spending money, or both. You
may wish to look at Allegro's XOVER product. I cannot testify as
to its cost or efficacy in accomplishing what you desire but it was
suggested to me in my trials with S-T-Disc files and their
inalterable block sizes. From what I can glean from their web site
it may do what you want.
The other route I am experimenting with is using dd on Linux to
move S-T-D files to dds tape (For some reason the MPE man page for
dd claims that it does not support tape devices). However, I have
more prosaic tasks to accomplish before I have the time to proceed
with that project. The difficulty will come if you have more than
one "reel" or require more than one dds tape. Then I think that a
purpose built utility will be necessary. I have briefly glanced at
FCOPY's documentation regarding this and on first glance it seems
that it is even possible that FCOPY might be able to do the job
with a shrewd enough approach.
I hope that this information provides you with a few leads.
Regards,
Jim
