Do you mean .tar.Z files that would ride along inside the patch containing the
binary distribution? That's only a couple of minutes of work to include more
stuff in the patches.

Separate patches would be time-consuming and likely confusing.
Distributing source via a simple tarball on jazz would not be overly
time-consuming. Jazz is supposed to continue beyond 12/31/06, but if you are
going to be a hardcore homesteader you should depend on as few external
resources as possible.
Having the source arrive on your system within the regular binary distribution
patch removes the dependency on jazz still existing at the time you change your
mind and decide you want to build a newer version of Sendmail, etc.
I recommend that you figure out exactly what you think is best for homesteader
(unrestricted) open source code and work to get that onto the SIB ballot.
