This new auto update feature on Firefox was really the end for me, since
not all 3rd party add-on providers keep up with Mozilla. Tired of seeing
add-ons stop working for any reason. Didn't have the Zonealarm problem
(I use ESET), but still unhappy with the whole situation. Plus Firefox has
been getting less and less lean to run, so I use either IE9 or Chrome.
Chrome finally has enough add-ons available...Roboform support,
Web-of-Trust support, and something like noscript, that it seems to have
most of what I want and still has a small footprint.

I still run into situations here or there, where I have to use Firefox at a
particular site because nothing else will work correctly, but that is rare.

Tom

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: Browsers

As for Firefox, I have been using it for a while as I had become
disenchanted with IE and had been quite happy with Firefox. However, I
also use the free Zonealarm Firewall, which, until recently was playing
nicely. However, as both had automatic updates set, I woke up a couple of
days ago to a Firefox browser that couldn't access the Internet. On
investigation, I discovered that the Zonealarm Security Engine add-on for
Firefox was disabled with the message that it could not function with the
version of Firefox. On further investigation, it appears that Mozilla has
no plans to get around whatever is causing the incompatibility and neither
has Checkpoint who own Zonealarm. So, stuck between having no Firewall or
finding another free one and not being able to use Firefox, I decided to
keep the Firewall and have started looking at other browsers. I am trying
Chrome and Safari at the moment and quite like Chrome. I would be
interested to know why people thin Chrome isn't such a good idea.
