The Native Mode MPE/iX replacement for APS/3000 is SPT/iX, which has more
functionality than APS did, in that it traps calls to standard MPE, File
System, and Image calls, so it can give you exact statistics on them.
 
SPT is sold as two parts, the collector and analyzer components being
separate (but I think you can get a bundle).  It costs a bundle too (or at
least it did the last time I looked).  It can be a very nice thing to have
though.
 
APS/3000 is the best example I've ever seen of HP Stealth Marketing.  The
first time I even knew there was such a product was when I saw it on the
price list.  The product was "Application Program Sampler" and it was only
a fraction of the cost of, say, a compiler in those days.  I went for at
least a year figuring this must be a bunch of sample programs for MPE!
