Hmmmm...  Let's see:

DLTtapeIV half inch cartridge = 80GB
2400' reel with 32KB blocks at 1600 BPI = 42MB

So... 2000 times the capacity, not to mention vastly faster, in a much more
compact storage format. I suspect the reliability specs are noticeably
better too.
