Donna,

The model 20 is a good solution for the system volume. We used
Raid1 for the system volume on all of our MPE servers in Europe
before migrating to EMC. We used a mix of Raid1 and Raid5 for
private volumes.

Be careful using parity Raid groups with large disk mechs! The mechs can
be grouped either as 2/1 (data parity) or 4/1. Using 9gb mechs with
a 4/1 raid group will give you a 36gb ldev, and performance may suffer.
We never used a mech larger than 9gb for MPE, though we had 18gb mechs
available if needed. There MAY be larger mechs available for the Nike,
but I'm not sure.

Note that Raid1 ldevs can consist of more than 2 disk mechs with the
Nike20....

The HP CE configured all of our luns by plugging a dumb terminal into
the array itself.

Regards,
Scott
