John,

Now that MPE/V is obsolete you might say it has hysterical value for HP.

It could be the price you pay for MPE/V being Year 2000 ready.

RE: [HP3000-L] MPE V/E Release 40 Source Code Price

The Navy still has a lot of classic systems, and has recently upgrated to
MPE V/E release 40, so we asked our HP sales rep how much it would cost to
get the MPE V/E release 40 source code.

<snip>

Well my HP sales rep (who is a personal friend) just called, laughing.
He now has a price for the MPE V/E release 40 source code. Keep in mind
that the source code and tables manual was about $500 the last time it
was purchased. Are you ready? Are you sitting down?

    !!!!!!!!  $ 10,000  Yes!   $ 10,000  !!!!!!!!

Hmmmm. I guess I'll be spending more time in MPE V/E's debug...
