Standard C only requires support of nested conditional-compilation
directives to a limited depth. Something makes me think the minimum
limit is 10, though I can't find anything to support that. Compilers
are allowed to support nesting beyond the minimum required depth, but
are not required to do so. A missing #endif can cause nesting where it
wasn't intended (though it should eventually cause an "unexpected end
of file" error too).
