I just got off the phone with a software vendor. This vendor sells both an
HP3000 solution and an NT solution. The literature they sent me made me
believe that the 3000 product was not being updated. The salesperson assured
me that this was not the case. What disturbed me was his reason.

The company has a large user base in the UK. The salesperson said, "Our UK
customers would never give up their 3000s." He went on to say that in the US
they have to market the NT solution even though the 3000 support is just
viable here as it is in the UK. This is because in the US people think they
have to go to NT because there are no HP3000 solutions available.

There is a circular logic of the self fulfilling prophecy type at work here.

Just my thoughts.
