Not true. When readers of this list have my email address in their client program
and they get infected, then their PC will send me emails with the virus attached.

Have you looked at http://raven.utc.edu/Archives/hp3000-l.html Allows sorting by author, topic, and date as well as searches.

As I'm fairly certain that 3000-L doesn't forward attachments anyway,
you are highly unlikely to get a virus on an email posted via 3000-L,
this also applies to any posted to the list from comp.sys.hp.mpe.

I for one would no longer subscribe if this was done, I rely on being
able to read 3000-L as a news group, as I can do so as and when I like
without being inundated with emails. It is also a far superior way to
view threads and postings.

This would be useful if could be done automatically.

I think those are part of the standards?

Whilst this would be a laudable thing, I'm afraid there are several list
members who would never have anything to post if this was enforced :-)
