If you mean that the data content actually maps ccorrectly to the layout in
the 'To' example, but is actually mis-mapped as in the 'FROM' example, I
think it can be done, maybe. First, do the fields GROUP, NAME, NUMBER and
FLAGS get used in other datasets, with incorrect lengths? If so, you are in
trouble if they are in other sequences. If always the same sequence as
below, maybe.

Back up the database- COPY1
do a Query FO SETS to hard copy
Change the field specs from FROM to TO sizes - Adager, DBGeneral etc,
whatever method.
Back it up again - COPY2
Purge it
Restore the root file and all unaffected data sets from COPY2
Restore the sets with changes from COPY1
Do a Query FO SETS to hard copy and check BF are the same.


I have used this method before to re-map sets where there is no change in
entry length, or any field length changes. Note that if you use HP
DBUNLOAD/DBLOAD utilities, but the base had been modified with Adager in the
past, the new base may have different blocking factors fromj the old, and
the restored COPY1 files may not work. If so, do Adager changes to make BF
the same, and it should work.

I need to Redefine the fields in the TI side.

For Example, the following is the listing of my dataset. I want to change it

         FLAGS,                      X10

         GROUP,                      X8
         NAME,                       X26
         NUMBER,                    X6
         FLAGS,                      X8

      CAPACITY: 200             ENTRIES: 100

Pls. let me know how should i proceed about this. Also give me pointers to
documents if any.
