AHHHHH! Okay...well that's cool! At least the problem is identified!!!

Didn't realize Netbase to be the culprit here, but that was part of our
changes with the patches. My bad for not mentioning that one!

You know I just now noticed the upshifted search paths. I figured that
was just an MPEism, but MPE understands HFS so all the /usr/lib and
/lib libraries should have been left lowercase from the version program
output, correct?

I'll look into the update version on 10.0 and see if that clears the
problem.

Thanks again!

Ron

Aha!!! You have NETBASE 10 installed which I have seen causes this problem,
i.e. Upshifts all your lib search paths...I believe update 3 of version 10
should fix this problem. I have an open call to Quest regarding this issue
but haven't heard back.

Take care..

Guy

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the response!

I was logged on as SM when I received the unresolved externals.

I knew to check the permissions, and truth be told some were a
bit warped after the reactive patches (group = 0 etc) so I fixed those
up. I'm pretty sure I've caught them all so I don't "think" that would
be the problem. But I double checked anyway. I'm pretty sure I have
the permissions okay at this point.

Ron

Your file permissions look okay..Does this run okay if you are
logged on as SM?

If that's the case I would suspect your directory permissions are the
problem. Check /lib and /usr/lib directories.

I have found in the past that certain posix reactive patches change
directory permissions..

As I stated before, this is v. 5.6.0 on a 939 (6.5pp2) that worked fine
before I added reactive patches. Other than this result with
Perl, the system seems fine otherwise, after patching.

Regarding the *.so files...you were right, this machine is the only
one I've put the gcc compiler on! So that explains why only this one
has the *.so files whereas none of my other machines have them.

I appreciate your help here! :-)
