You didn't try hard enough.  Just "adager" works, too!.

Netscape and IE (the chicken and the egg) seem to use an algorithm similar
to:

   a) If not protocol was specified, pre-pend "http://" (e.g. http://adager)
   b) Try the URL
   c) If DNS failure, add ".com", ".net", ".???" (e.g.http://adager.com)
   d) Try each of step "c)" with a "www." (e.g. http://www.adager.com)

I'm don't know if www.adager.com is tried before adager.net, etc.  A few
minutes with a packet sniffer could find out, but I don't have one handy
right now.

And, I don't know if Netscape and IE use exactly the same order or not.
