Thinking back to the late 60's and early 70's, almost everyone I knew was trying to figure out how to avoid going to Viet Nam. Yes, some of my friends volunteered, and I am grateful for their service to their country, but if we are to start casting blame at those who didn't serve (myself included), we must use a broad brush indeed. Thirty years from now, will politicians be expected to explain why they didn't fight in one of the Gulf Wars? I haven't noticed any long lines at the military recruiting stations...
