hi again
(yes, there's a lull in the sar-ox excitement today :-)
i was asked a question about the sysstart file that i don't have an
answer for. i have a hunch....but no answer.
the documentation for sysstart
<http://docs.hp.com/en/32650-90907/32650-90907.pdf>
clearly shows that you can put 'sections' in your sysstart file for
different kinds of reboots. (the old naming conventions ought to be a
big clue -- coolstart -- hehehehe)
however -- the only real (insert disclaimer here) way to reboot a
system these days is with 'start'....which to me means only the
'startup' section will happen.
say that you've applied a patch to your system using tape. you've done
your update. now let's say you do a 'start norecovery' (you left off
the 'nosysstart' or you have autoboot set-up...and don't interrupt it).
i don't see how the system knows that you're coming up after an update.
anyone know? - d 'must have too much free time :-)'
