You know those chipper/shredders used by landscapers, when they are trimming
trees?

Get yerself one of those things... park the truck and the chipper/shredder in
the back of the building, bring out those tapes...

Fire the thing up, and start tossin' 'em in.  Guaranteed, they will not be
recoverable.  Not only that, had they really been tree branches, they would
make great mulching!  I would NOT use the chipped/shredded tapes as confetti
though.
