Kent,
Birket answered your first question. I'll take a stab at your second
question:
"The HP Secure Web Console is a small (about the size of a VCR tape)
appliance that makes the HP 9000 and HP 3000 server consoles available over
a corporate intranet for the purpose of remote management access to the
server console. One side of the HP Secure Web Console plugs into the server
console port and the other side plugs into the corporate intranet. Because
of the intranet connection, any PC with either a Microsoft or Netscape
browser can remotely access the server console."
I took the above from an HP web site that you can access as well to learn
more. The link to the web page is:
http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/management/confmanagement/swc/index.html
If the link wraps around on the line, make sure to capture all of it to get
to the page.
This box works great. I have many MPE and HP-UX customers using these! And
they do not cost that much plus the newer systems have them built in.
I hope this helps.
Mike.
