localtime() in the C library might work, though you pass it the number of
seconds since the epoch, and the timezone comes from the TZ environment
variable:

I have no clue about calling C library functions from SPLASH! or Business
Basic.

There is a localtime() function. You would have to call putenv before and
after if you want to use a different timezone. I don't know about calling
these functions from Splash.
Mark and Ken:
Thanks to both of you! I'll have to dig into localtime(), time, and putenv
a bit. It looks like I'll have to play with calling them from SPLASH! too.
One more question. TZTAB.LIB.SYS on MPE is a human-readable file. I
noticed in poking around on the web that on many (most?) Unix and Linux
systems, there is a plain text file and then there is a binary file
"compiled" from the plain text file. Does MPE have the equivalent binary
or "compiled" version of the TZTAB.LIB.SYS file? If so, what utility do I
need to use to compile my own version?
Thanks,
John
