: If anyone would like information comparing QMS, CMS and KLA/Express,
: please call Joe Alongi @ Technikal, Inc. (813-784-5976). I wrote all
: three products!

: QMS gives you the ability to create up to 100 independent batch queues
: with numerous features including (limit, fence, queue priority, schedule
: day & time, override input priority, rerouting, notification...) It uses
: wildcards for easy setup with a "windows" style interface. Queues can be
: controlled from the MPE command prompt. NO CHANGES are necessary to
: existing applications or jobs.

: CMS is similiar to workload manager. It uses the same type of input
: screens as QMS and is more advanced than KLA/Express.

: Free demos are available. Also, Technikal is offering an unbelievable
: upgrade offer to all past and current users of KLA/Express. References
: are also available.

I was fortunate to have worked with Joe Alongi for almost seven years,
4 at Collier-Jackson, and 3 at KLA. During this time what impressed me
the most was the commitment to the providing the customer with software
that will make work in their environment, not the other way around!
A lot of what was done with the products were a direct result to customer
feedback. There was also a concious decision NOT to spread ourselves too
this by spinning off into other areas of product development.

When I was asked the same type of question with regards to how to compare
the our products to the competition, my response was the following:

-- Reviewing the life cycle of the product. Is it the same thing that
has been sitting on the shelf for the past number of years or has
there been not only fixes but enhancements that justify the cost of
   the yearly maintenance.

-- What kind of support service have you received?
Mentored through a problem or situation
Given a quick generic answer that has not helped

-- Is the company not only receptive to your comments to improving the
product, do they act? (Do they even take the time to ask what you
need to make life easier with the software?)

-- During the demo phase, were you just sent a tape and three to four
weeks later asked if you want to buy, or were did they take the time
to work with you to implement the product in YOUR enviornment?!?

-- Most importantly, put the various products side-by-side and see which
one is the best fit for your needs.
