We have been a Reflection user for about 6 years. The only time we've
considered another emulator was when we wanted to make the move to Windows
from DOS. At that time we looked at Business Session from Tymlabs (now
Unison) and Advancelink from HP. If my memory serves me correctly,
Reflection was just (and I mean JUST) releasing their first Windows product.

Even though they were later than the other two, their product had more
features, was stabler, and faster. We programmatically control Reflection
to do various command language things like file xfer, DDE, checking for file
existence, etc. In fact, we developed an entire sharable API for Speedware
  to do these things.

When we wanted to move into network protocols, we tried ARPA Services from
HP and the 3000 Connection for DOS from WRQ. NO COMPARISON! The setup from
WRQ was great and very intelligent. We now use their Windows stack,
including their new NS/Open which provides VT access to a 3000 over any
standard Winsock. Again, it has worked great from the start.

If you follow various industry newspapers and magazines, you'll find that WRQ
is popping up in them more often: both in advertisements and product reviews.
Any time I've seen there product reviewed or compared against others, it's
been at the top of the class.

I've known that there are cheaper products out there, but our experience
with the quality of WRQs software has been great. I've received support over
the phone, from Compuserve, and over the Internet. There technicians have
always show themselves to be quite competent!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you get what you pay for. I can't really
comment on Minisoft's product since I've never used it. However, I do know
of two companies that have recently switched from Reflection to Minisoft and
my contacts indicate that the product is no where near as nice.

  Vince.
