We have a bunch of network devices at the far ends of our 3000 network (eqt
to HO in NY, last branch in Frisco). The pCs run Reflections, but lately we
added some thin clients running a new emulator, which works in Block mode
etc. The difference we have found is that the thin clients run a lot faster
in turning Block/Line mode transmissions around than Reflections. I am told
this is because it uses Telnet, and somehow the network is friendlier to
telnet than the network connect Reflections needs to run block mode.

Anyway, I have tried to get QCT running in Block/Line, and it wont - our
logic flow (in Basic/V or Bus/Basic) is:-

display screen, format on, block on, pos cursor at field 1
Enter or Linput with wait, issue read
when data received, repos cursor, Esc d, read without wait <<< works ok
for one field
to read multiple data fields:-
position cursor, read with wait as above, repos cursor, Esc d, read data
Esc d, read to get next field <<< gets wrong data

In a specific case, field 1 is 2 chars, field 2 is 1 char; program seems to
read the two char field (diagnoses error if incorrect value), but it seems
to get the second char of field 1 instead of field 2 data, as it diagnoses
bad value in field 2

In reflections, works fine. Typeahead is False, tried with H strap on, off,
same result. Same in std telnet or advanced. Currently on 7.01 mpe.

Anybody BTDT??? It would be a big improvement I believe if we could get the
pcs to run Telnet and improve transmission over the network.

TIA,
jp
