Donna's absolutely right. When we went shopping for a new Donor Management/Gift Processing system, we didn't really look at the hardware. We looked at the software's functionality and how it could work with our business. I would have loved to get a package with an HP 3000 back-end, but they just aren't out there. (I believe that the software we're currently phasing out is the only package of this sort that runs on an HP 3000, and it's just not meeting our needs...)
Yes, we could have "rolled our own", but we don't have the resources to create and maintain such an animal. We needed an off-the-shelf solution that we could tweak to meet our unique needs.
