Unforutnately, this only serves to tell you if NARF is a valid device
or volume class, not if it's a valid printer device.

If PINKY, for example, was a volume class in the volume set of my
logon group, then:

   :file foo; dev=pinky

would also work....but would mislead you if you were trying to find
printer device classes.
