It might also be that the 3000 is running low on DTC/network related
buffers. I vaguely recall having seen some "slow motion screen paints"
in such situations (but that was long ago, thus my faint memory). It
was something like "system has to wait for free IO buffers returned to
a pool". There was some default number of buffers per DTC LDEV and a
tool in TELESUP to tune that number. Sorry for not remembering the very
details. Maybe someone else does (or maybe I am totally down the garden
path here ;-)

Oh, and that Telesup util did not work any more at a certain release
or path level and thus a workaround was to configure a dummy DTC (eg
DTC72) as the number of buffers was somehow calculated based on the
number of DTC LDEVs. More LDEVs => more buffers (for those LDEVs which
are really in use).
